McGeehan Motorsport Sunset Stages Rally....

McGeehan Motorsport are proud sponsors of Magherafelt and District Motor Club’s Sunset Stages Rally. This unique event starts on Friday evening and consists of two special stages in Banagher and Davagh Forests returning to service in Draperstown at McGeehan Motorsport HQ on Sixtowns Road before stages three and four in total darkness through Banagher and Davagh.

Moonraker Forestry Rally....

McGeehan Motorsport have prepared 3 of the finest examples of world rally cars for this weekends Moonraker Forest Rally. Adrian Hetherington will be continuing his championship campaign in his Toyota Corolla WRC, Barry McKenna will be out in the McGeehan Motorsport Mini WRC for the first time and is confident after a good  test during the week. Marty McCormack will be giving his Skoda Fabia R5 a run over the Munster stages as a test for the next round of the 2017 British Rally Championship.

2017!....

It's a busy year ahead for McGeehan Motorsport and their customers. The Draperstown based team will have cars contesting all of Ireland's major championships from Tarmac to Gravel starting with this weekends Galway International Rally, the opening round of the 2017 Irish Tarmac Rally Championship.

Joe McGonigle will be in Galway in an Skoda Fabia R5 for the first time on a Irish Tarmac Championship event, Joe acquired the car in late 2016 from David Bogie and has contested some national events to warm up for 2017. Liam Egan will be making the trip over from New York to also contest the 2017 Irish Tarmac Championship In his Group N Subaru.

Adrian Hetherington, who surprised everyone in 2016 when he took to the stages in a Toyota Corolla WRC and impressed with a string of podiums on rounds of the Irish Forestry Championship will again contest the Championship in the Corolla WRC. The now 19 year old World Rally Car has had a complete rebuild over the winter break and should prove to be competitive on the opening round of the series next month.

In his very similar and distinctive yellow Corolla WRC, Martin Donnelly will be contesting the 2017 Irish National Championship, Martin wasn't on the Irish stages much in 2017, choosing to contest select events in the United States of America and Barbados.

No strangers to the top end of the sport or to the British Rally Championship is Martin McCormack who will debut his new Skoda Fabia R5 on a round of the Irish Forestry Championship ahead of next months BRC opener. Martin so is very experienced and talented driver in S2000 cars and FIA Historic rally cars is sure to be one of the main contenders in this years British Rally Championship.

Closer to home, Alan Carmichael will be out in the McGeehan Motorsport Mini WRC for the Northern Ireland Rally Championship. Alan who has driven the Mini before on many occasions really likes the car and seems to have taken to it really well. With the added addition of a paddle shift gear change to the Prodrive built machine, Alan and the Mini should prove to be a quick when the championship kicks off at Kirkistown Race Circuit.

3rd on the Dogleap for Alan McGeehan....

It was a 3rd place finish for Alan McGeehan and Nial Magee on the 2015 Dogleap Rally around the Ballykelly airfield in their first outing in the Mini WRC on a tough event with mixed conditions and varying surfaces.

 

3rd in the Park....

It was a great day as always in Lurgan Park of Derek McGeehan and Laurie Smyth in the Mini WRC setting fastest times on the opening stages of the 4th of July event. After loosing some time to Garry Jennings with a small overshoot and the changeable conditions Derek and Laurie took the 3rd sport on the podium after  Lurgan Park legend Kenny McKinstry with Garry Jennings taking the top step for the third year in a row.

 

McGeehan takes Irish honors in Litiuania....

Derek McGeehan has tackled the dust of the Samsonas Motorsport Rally Utena this weekend to take the prize for first Irish compeditor. Irish ambasador David Noonan was there to present Derek and navagator Aurther their prize. Derek said, "its been a difficult few days, the stages and conditions are all very new to us. We had a really good recce and made a few changes to the car after the shakedown stage on Friday which seemed to really help. The dust on the stages was very different for us and became an added challange throughout the weekend."

"I would really like to thank Mich McCullagh from EuroM-Sport for all his hard work and Martynas Samsonas for having us over, it was a well organised event which we really enjoyed and we hope to be back next year."

Its Galway time again....

It's the start to the 2015 season and as always the Galway International Rally in Galway City is is the the opening round of the Irish Tarmac Championship. McGeehan Motorsport Hire and proud to announce that both McGeehan Motorsport Mini WRCs will be hitting the stages in Galway next weekend.

In the hot seat for the first time in a world rally car is Galways own Dean Raftery after a great 2014 season in the British Rally Championship. Good luck to Dean and CoDriver Mark Kane on hopefully their first rally on many in a WRC car.

From a WRC novice to a WRC veteran, making anticipated return to the Irish Tarmac Rally Championships in a Mini WRC is 5 times Irish Champion Eugene Donnelly and navagator Paul Kiley. The duo have a mixed history in Galway in the Mini with two 2nd finishes and a DNF last year after an off road encounter with the Galway scenery. Good luck to Eugene and Paul on the opening event of their 2015 campaign.
