McGeehan wins 2013 Ulster National Rally....!!!

After a two day battle through the night stages of Co Fermanagh, the tight chicanes of the St Angelo Airfield and the fast mucky lanes of the tranquil Northern Ireland country side, Derek McGeehan and Co-Driver Darragh Mullen took victory on this years 2013 Ulster National Rally.

After taking an early lead Derek encounted some problems dropping him down to second place during the overnight hault. But on Satuday Derek to the stages with maxamum attach and took back the time lost the previous night in a sometimes close battle with last year rally winner Frank Kelly.

After the Ulster Rally, which was round 6 of the Northern Ireland Rally Championships, the battle for first place has narrowed to just two points with current leader Derek McGarrity on 48 points and Derek McGeehan on 46. It should make for an interesting round 7 when the championship heads to the gravel for the 2013 Lakeland Stages Rally.

"It's great to win the Ulster in the Mini, we tried very hard last year but just didn't quite manage to get it. It was a great battle over the last two days with Frank who drove really well and kept us on our toes. I'd just like to thank my team for doing an outstanding job this weekend and thanks all my sponsors for their support, Draperstown Commercial, Sligo Pallets and JB Tyres."
